2023 Safety Excellence Award

We were presented with the 2023 EMCOR Safety Excellence Award in the electrical construction category. Each year, one of the companies under EMCOR Construction Services (ECS) Electrical is given this award for demonstrating an outstanding commitment to safety. 

The cornerstone of our safety program is the collaboration we’ve cultivated between our safety team and field leadership. Our safety professionals are problem solvers that work closely with electricians. This approach has developed mutual respect amongst our team and helped turn field leaders into committed safety advocates.

Our CEO, COO, Division Managers, and Field Operations Superintendents also actively engage with field and safety personnel. They regularly visit sites, attend team events, and are involved with weekly safety walks that offer deeper insight into potential hazards.

This visible commitment at the top of the organization has helped foster an environment where employees feel comfortable raising concerns and suggesting improvements. Open dialogue helps us identify potential safety issues early and work together to find solutions. 

To further encourage communication, the safety team utilizes a company-wide “text-em-all” system that sends regular safety updates and resources, and their intranet platform displays safety statistics. These efforts promote a sense of inclusion and help keep safety top of mind across the company.

We also constantly analyze our performance data to identify high-risk areas, engage our teams in tailored discussions, and address persistent safety issues. Through things like prefabrication, process optimizations, customized training, and high-quality safety gear, we seek innovative solutions to these issues. We have even invested in more than 20 highly specialized tools that have helped measurably improve safety and efficiency.

The success of these investments has not only improved compliance, but also further encouraged our electricians to vocalize safety challenges with the confidence that we will take action to find a solution.

As a result of these efforts, we’ve maintained, for a second consecutive year, a significant drop in our total recordable incident rate after increasing the size of our workforce by more than 50 percent in 2022—an incredible achievement we couldn’t be more proud of.
